The week aims to raise awareness of the many Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) available to support people living in the community - including devices and monitoring systems which can help people who have a long term condition, are elderly or vulnerable or who have a disability, to remain independent for longer.
John Turk, Director at Centra, said:"We're delighted to be taking part in this first UK Telehealth Awareness Week to raise awareness of the services we offer to those living locally. We’ve have been doing telecare for 30 years and want to take the opportunity to thank all the staff at our dedicated 24/7 monitoring centre and all other call handlers, as they are at the heart of the service.
At Centra we are working hard with innovative suppliers to ensure we continue to offer the right support, at right time, which helps people have the independent life they deserve.”
Technology enabled services can help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and support people to be discharged from hospital sooner. This not only improves the quality of life for patients and their carers, but has the potential to offer huge savings for the health and social care system.
