Every year World Alzheimer’s Day takes place on 21 September. It’s an opportunity for organisations and individuals around the world to raise awareness highlight issues faced by people affected by dementia and demonstrate how we can overcome them to help people live well with dementia.
Dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face, with nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide. In the UK there are 850,000 people with dementia, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, affecting 62 per cent of those diagnosed.
We understand the importance of raising awareness of Alzheimer’s and dementia, as a large proportion of our customers either have dementia or are care givers. With the growing cost of dementia care in the news, many people are looking for alternative technology, which can ease the costs and help people to live independently.
Elizabeth’s who has dementia, home is fitted with a telecare front door alert and she wears a Vega GPS device, which proved to be life saver when she wandered off alone in the night.
Robin (Son in Law), said “Elizabeth now has a GPS emergency support and locator, it has given us real peace of mind to know she is where she should be. For Elizabeth it means she has the confidence and reassurance to carry on getting out and about.” Read her full story here
We have been working with some great companies this year and including Dementia Friends and The Alzheimer’s Show.
It was our first year at The Alzheimer’s Show, and we met so many people over the course of the two days who were directly affected by dementia, carers or professionals. They were all looking for advice and support for caring for someone with Alzheimer’s in and out the home using technology.

We are continuing to work closely with The Alzheimer’s Show network to improve awareness, and ensure everyone has the right information about what support is available.
