People affected by dementia can find out how they can tackle the disease thanks to free lunchtime events being held at sheltered housing schemes Penruddocke House in Tonbridge on Tuesday (24th September) and Waterside Court in Leybourne on Thursday (26th September).
Circle Support, which manages the schemes, has teamed up with experts from organisations including the Alzheimer’s Society, Admiral Nurses and Invicta Telecare to talk to people about how they could be helped by local support networks. It is hosting the Dementia Information Cafes to give out advice alongside free refreshments.
Clare McCarthy from Circle Support said: “It is important to understand the difference the right support and advice can make to anyone affected by dementia, whether you are suffering yourself or caring for someone else who is.”
“Circle Support is hosting Dementia Awareness Cafes at our Tonbridge and Malling schemes to bring together all kinds of different information for anyone struggling to get the help they need during World Alzheimer’s Month.”
Staff from Penruddocke House and Waterside Court will also be joined by Home Instead, The Memory Clinic, Pilgrims View residential home and Maidstone and Malling’s carers project for the events.
World Alzheimer’s Month is an international campaign to raise awareness and challenge stigmas around the disease.
Visit Penruddocke House in Tonbridge on Tuesday 24 September or Waterside Court in Leybourne on Thursday 26th September between 12 until 2pm to take part in Circle Support’s Dementia Awareness Cafes.
